TeamAPL Welcomes First Female Member in Emma Grace!
2008-12-16 APL Team
North Queenslander Emma Grace has taken out the APL WSOP Satellite Event - Tweed Heads and, in doing so, has become APL's leading lady as the first female representative of TeamAPL.
41 years young, Emma is an accomplished card shark and loving mother of 2 who frequents The Boathouse and The Boardwalk Tavern in pursuit of her poker dream.
Emma was first introduced to poker after seeing a 60 Minutes episode about the story of Australian Joe Hachem, 2005 WSOP Champion. Not a week after the story had run, Emma received a call from her father asking if she would like to integrate a game of free poker into their regular weekly dinner plans.
The pair played at a club in Southport for the first time, and Emma quite enjoyed the game!
After reading 2003 WSOP Champion Chris Moneymaker's book, Emma was inspired to give poker a real go and had great success in a number of serious tournaments with other poker leagues before finding APL Poker, and switching over in an attempt to continue her progression towards living out her poker dream.
Emma says she has been focussed on qualifying for the WSOP since she started with the APL in October of 2007, and was delighted to take out the ticket on offer at the APL WSOP Satellite in Tweed Heads on the weekend.
"I'm into visualisation - and I visualised this happening. I didn't think it would come to fruition so quickly though!. I saw a plane fly across the sky as I waited for the field to be seated on the weekend. I visualised myself on that plane, flying to Vegas as part of the Team. Now that dream is a reality."
"I've already started visualising the final table."
Emma's ultimate goal is to become the first female to ever make it to the WSOP Final Table, and to be able to set up her father and beautiful daughters Lili (6) and Ruby (4) for life.
"From there, I just want to be able to live a good life, be the best mother I can be and create a perfect balance between my two great loves - family and poker".
You can win YOUR way into the WSOP and TeamAPL at the NSW Pro Open on January 18th at Western Suburbs Leagues Club, New Lambton.
We'll also be throwing TeamAPL seats up for grabs at the Wild Turkey Poker Classic in Melbourne on February 14-15th!
