Shavin Abdine Wins!Shavin Abdine Wins The 2009 APL Grand Slam ($75,000)
Shavin Abdine has just been crowned the 2009 Wild Turkey APL Grand Slam champion.
Abdine fought a pitched battle with Peterson that changed the lead more then just a few times. In the end he emerged top of the heap to be crowned the champion.
He had to beat out a massive field of 599 players including many of the 2009 Team APL members. He is now a member of the team himself and is looking forward to the honor of representing the league and Australia at next year's World Series of Poker.
The crowd is clearing out, and the presentation is winding up. That'll be a wrap from us after two action packed days of poker. -

The crowd sounded genuinely relieved for the tournament to have reached its end after a gripping almost two hour battle where the lead changed hands countless times.
Peterson was a valiant competitor and could easily have been the winner of the tournament had fortune smiled on him.
It didn't though, so he'll have to be content with a second place finish and the $30,000 prize money that goes with it. -
