At 9am Registration opened for the NSW State Final at west leagues club new lambton, with crowds of people lined up in anticipation to see what heat they would be in.
The doors opened to the sound of the APL theme song roaring. Once all players had been seated Bruno, our illustrious host, gave some minor instructions and the format for the event, afterwhich said "please take the time to look at the screens and enjoy TOC 2007". The lights dimmed and it began, 4 minutes later it was all over and to some great applause, The winner of the 2007 TOC Rodney Davidson came on stage and said a few words of encouragement to everyone in the room.
Heat one lasted around 1hr 45 minutes, and 120 players bagged their chips and moved out towards the club.
Heat 2 started at 2pm exactly the same as heat one, the only difference this time Rodney Davidson was now on a table about to fight for the title of NSW State Champion.
Heat 2 concluded at 4:25pm and a 30 break was given to all players.
Play resumed at 5pm and the blinds now at 700/1400 for 3 minutes, with some very tight play being seen and massive calls made.
We finally had our top 16 players at 8:10pm.
Battling away all 16 players tried their best to take the title but one young Lady Veronia could not seem to make a bad move.
We now have our final 12 players who have ALL made the TOC 2008; the delight on some of the faces was really encouraging from the sidelines.
Chips just kept moving around the table, with Veronia pushing all in. After getting two callers, she turns over pocket Jacks which hold, and we lose another two players.
Next Hand she does it again. Another caller. Now she turns pocket 10's she hits another on the turn and another player gone.
Getting late into the night now (approx 9:45) its heads up from the boy from Wellington... and Veronia from Port Maquarie.
5-6 hands into the game veronia takes it down.
