POTW Crown Moves North as Tom Longden Secures Win!
2008-09-11 APL Team
Congratulations to Tom Longden of QLD who has taken out the Wild Turkey POTW and secured his seat into the 2009 Wild Turkey Poker Classic.
Tom - known as 'The Mouth' is 49 years of age and plays in the QCS and QBS regions. His favourite hand is pocket dueces because they fly under the radar so easily.
Tom has been a part of the APL in a variety of capacities since the very first APL game run in QLD - originally playing with the league for six months before becoming a Tournament Director. Nine months later, Tom returned to being a player and thoroughly enjoys playing with friends at the Runcorn Tavern and the Redbrick Hotel.
When asked if he was excited about qualifying for the Poker Classic, Tom replied "Ohhh yes!"
Tom competed in the 2008 TOC and was knocked out in the final hand of Day One after pushing all in with AK only to be called by 6 4 off-suit, who managed to suck out a 6 on the river.
"I learnt a great deal down in Sydney. It was an expensive lesson, but a welcome learning curve. I've learnt how to deal with different types of players - and now I've come back stronger than ever... I'm leading Player of the Month at the moment"
Good luck to Tom in his POTM endeavours. He is currently almost 300 points clear of 2nd place on the POTM table for September.
